Photographing Innovation: USC’s First To Market Storage Container
I was recently commissioned by Universal Storage Containers (USC), a company based in The Netherlands, to create a suite of visual content for the launch of their newest product, a bespoke storage container designed specifically for the removals and storage industry. The container offers a practical solution for businesses: it allows standard storage crates to be driven directly into the unit via forklift or pallet truck, making access easier and more efficient for customers.
The shoot took place at the site of Williams & Yates in Dunstable, USC’s client, who kindly allowed us to document the container’s real world assembly and functionality. As early adopters of the design, they played a key role in helping USC's industrial designer Danny Schmidt, refine the concept, and took a considered leap into the unknown by supporting a completely new product.
My brief was to capture the container being built on-site and to produce a strong set of commercial stills to showcase its design and features. Alongside the stills, I created a two minute promotional film for use on USC’s website and at trade shows and presentations. To add further energy and depth to the final content, I also produced several time lapse sequences of the build process, as well as incorporating drone videography to give a broader sense of scale.
There was also the opportunity to make a few fun timelapses....
... That showed various stages of the build.
While USC are based overseas, most of my work is local to the UK, with recent commissions in Norwich, London, and throughout the South East. If you’re looking to commission industrial photography in Norwich, need commercial photography in London, or want to elevate your next campaign with drone videography or branded film content, I’d love to hear more about your plans.
